Basket weaving is an ancient African craft that is still practiced today by African tribes. The motivation behind the design of our Basket Weave pillow is a tribute to this ancient art. Created with individual variegated ribbons of Shweshwe that are woven together giving the front of the pillow a multi-dimensional feel. These are then sewn onto a base to create the look and feel of an open weave. The weave is framed with Shweshwe then the pillow is finished off with a Luxurious Velvet Oxford hem and backing.

Even though a colour way remains the same, (i.e. Black, Green or Blue etc.) different Shweshwe patterns are used for the production of the ribbons in each pillow, making them individual pieces.

If you are hoping for a pair or multiples (e.g. main colour Black) they work perfectly alone or as multiples.
