The Indigo dyed Shibori fabric is procured from a local supplier from the Western Cape ( seen Aristea Indigo on Facebook), that uses the ancient method of dyeing the fabric in a vat of dye created from the Indigofera tinctoria plant.
Shibori is an umbrella term for Japanese resist dyeing. Itajime Shibori is a technique where you fold fabric and press it between two objects thereby creating a resist. The method of folding and then clamping will create various and endless geometric patterns.
